How to Use More Than One DVD Burner at Once

Burning DVDs is a great way to make copies of them for backup. DVD burning is also a great way to share a lot of data or a video with someone else who doesn't have a fast Internet connection. The ability to burn DVDs also comes in especially handy if you are making movies. For any of these reasons, but especially the last one, you may want to make multiple copies at once, as burning can take a little bit of time.

Make sure you have the hardware requirements. Burning CDs or DVDs is very process intensive while the burning is taking place. You need to make sure your computer can handle it, or the new discs will be useless. To burn at least two discs, you will need at least a GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 or later processor. You will also need two or more DVD burners.

Use CD burning software. Nero is one burning program that will allow more than one DVD to burn at a time. Start the program, and look for a check box to accept multiple burns at once.

Start a second instance of the same program. Nero and some other software may allow you to choose more than one DVD burner at a time, but with other programs and possibly even Nero, you may need to start a second instance of the program. After you open the second instance of Nero, set your preferences to burn the next DVD. Start burning and then wait for both instances to complete. This may take several minutes or more, depending on the amount of information on the DVD.
