Things You'll Need
- Large,serrated bread knife
- Large pot of water -- at least 1 1/2 quarts
- Stove
- Thermos that is as tall as the knife blade is long
- Protective clothing
- Smoker

Place the pot of water on a stove and bring it to a boil.

Boil the water for five minutes at a full rolling boil.

Carefully pour the boiling water into the thermos.

Place the knife into the thermos so that the blade is completely immersed in the water. The boiling water will heat the knife enough so that you can cut off the wax from the honey combs to release the honey.

Take the thermos and the bread knife out to the beehives. Make sure that you are wearing protective gear and have a smoker to calm the bees. Cut the wax off of the tops of the honey combs with the knife. After each cut, place the knife back into the boiling water to keep it hot.
