Twin tip skis are those which have curved edges on both the front and back of the ski. This allows you to land a jump backwards. There are many factors besides just your own size when choosing skis. Another aspect to finding the proper pair is your expertise on the slope. Below you will find guidelines for choosing skis best for your particular experience skiing. Be honest with yourself about your abilities since claiming that you are advanced when you have only been on the slopes once will lead you to picking a pair of twin tip skis that is wrong for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

On a sheet of paper, write down your height.

  2. Step 2

Weigh yourself on a bathroom scale and write the weight down. You do not have to use the scale if you already know your weight.

  3. Step 3

Take the paper with your height and weight written on it when you go to the ski shop and look at the available twin tip skis.

  4. Step 4

Lift your arm up over your head. In general, for a beginner, the ski placed upright on the floor next to you should come up to the wrist of the arm you have over your head.

  5. Step 5

Choose a pair of skis, if you are an intermediate skier, by finding a pair that only comes to the top of your head or your forehead. If you are an advanced skier, you should find the pair of skis which is best for your personal skiing style.

  6. Step 6

Narrow down your twin tip ski choices by factoring in your experience, weight and what you want to do with your skis.

  7. Step 7

Refer to the ski sizing chart (see Resources) for an outline of choosing the right size twin tip skis for your ability.
