Bluetooth technology is much more than just the capability of talking hands-free on your cell phone. Bluetooth technology is the ability of connecting a variety of electronic devices to each other wirelessly. Bluetooth technology can be used to connect a printer and a cell phone, a mouse and a computer, a cellphone and a GPS unit, or a personal media device with a headset. Learn how to use bluetooth technology so that you can expand your electronic device capabilities and connections.

  • Bluetooth-enabled Electronic Devices
  • Bluetooth Adaptor (if necessary)
  1. Step 1

    Connect your cell phone to a printer to print wirelessly. Use a bluetooth-enabled printer or insert a USB bluetooth adaptor into a USB port on the printer. Open the bluetooth menu on the cell phone and pair the cell phone to the printer to enable printing.

  2. Step 2

    Use a bluetooth adaptor on a laptop or desktop computer to enable the computer to be bluetooth compatible with other bluetooth devices. Insert the adaptor into a USB port and follow the installation instructions that should begin automatically.

  3. Step 3

    Connect your laptop or desktop computer to a bluetooth-enabled mouse to use the mouse wirelessly. Open the bluetooth menu on the computer and pair the computer to the mouse to enable the mouse to work.

  4. Step 4

    Connect a bluetooth audio transmitter to a bluetooth-enabled personal media device to enable wireless streaming of audio to headphones, a headset, or bluetooth-enabled speakers.

  5. Step 5

    Use a cell phone as a modem to connect a laptop to the internet when other internet connections are not available. Pair the bluetooth-enabled cell phone and the laptop and then establish the cell phone as a modem by opening the "Internet sharing" option on the cellphone.
