How to Change Alltel Ringbacks
Ringback tones are a great way to personalize your phone. You can set up just one tone for everyone to hear, or set up groups so different people hear different songs. Creating and managing these ringback tones become easier once you have done it once.

Go to Alltel's website (see Resources). In the upper-right corner, there is a place to sign in. If you have registered your account before, then log in. If you have never signed up, then click "Register Now" and follow the instructions. A pop-up box will ask if it is a personal or business account. It will then prompt for your phone number and take you to the next page to set up a password.

Click the word "Ringbacks" to go to the section to manage your ringback account.

Select the genre of music you want to browse through for your ringback tone. Pick the song you want and select "Buy." The tone will show up in your profile as a ringback tone you can select for any caller. Alltel allows you to purchase up to 15 ringback tones at a time.

Go to the Profile tab of your ringbacks account. From here you can set a default ringback tone, which means that anyone you do not assign a specific ringback tone to will hear the default. Once you click the default option, all the ringback tones you have purchased appear in a list you can choose from.

Stop your account from playing the message, "Please enjoy this ringtone while we are connecting your call," before the song starts playing, if you choose. Click "Turn Announcements Off" to stop this message from playing so it goes directly into playing your song.

Select the Groups tab to set up specific numbers to hear different songs. Type the phone number and choose the song to play. Set this as either an individual or a group of people who will get this special setting.

Go to the Profile tab if you want your ringback tone play only during certain hours. For instance, if your phone is a business line during the day hours, but personal at night, you can have it turned on regular ringing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and switch to play the ringback tone from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next morning. In this area, you can also hibernate it so it doesn't play at all until you decide to turn it back on.

Tips & Warnings
Remember each ringback tone purchased is charged to your Alltel bill. Each ringback tone purchased is good for 12 months before it expires.
