How to Make a Speaker Out of Foil

Did your computer speakers or headphones just die, and you don't have a lot of money to buy some new ones? A simple speaker can be made for about a dollar and will work well for listening to your music. It can work with any music outsource as long as an audio cable can be plugged into it, so if you have a music player, but don't have any speakers, this is a perfect solution.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper plate
  • Aluminum foil
  • Penny
  • Tape
  • Audio cord
  • Wire cutters
  1. Step 1
     

    Take your paper plate and cover the top and around the edges with a sheet of aluminum foil.

  2. Step 2

    Place a penny in the center of the plate on top of the foil.

  3. Step 3
     

    Use a piece of tape and place it over the penny to secure it to the foil.

  4. Step 4

    Take the audio cord and, if one end still has the end piece, then use some wire cutters to cut off the end piece and expose about an inch of the wire.

  5. Step 5

    Place the exposed wire under the tape and against the penny. Re-secure the tape to hold the two into place.

  6. Step 6

    Take the other end of the audio cable and plug it into your music player.

  7. Step 7

    Turn the music on and enjoy your new speaker.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use a cable that has multiple wire pieces to connect several speakers to create a surround sound effect.
