The homemade harmonica is one of the easiest toy instruments to make. The materials that it requires are extremely simple and once it is constructed, learning to play the instrument is easy. You and your friends will be amazed at how similar this little makeshift contraption will sound to a real harmonica and kids will love performing this craft project as a sort of musical experiment.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the wax paper so that the length of the paper corresponds to the length of the comb.

  2. Step 2

Fold the paper over the end of the comb that has the teeth. The center of the paper should be where the paper is folded so that there is an equal amount of paper on both sides of the comb. The wax side of the paper should face inward.

  3. Step 3

Hold the comb horizontally so that the teeth face upward and hold the paper firmly in place.

  4. Step 4

Hum through the paper that is folded over the top of the comb.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have wax paper, you can use tissue paper instead.
