How to Make a Coaxial Cable

Coaxial cable has replaced the old rabbit ear antenna for receiving broadcast signals. It provides a clearer signal that can receive a transmission from anywhere in the world. There are various sizes of coaxial cables, all depending on the type of signal you wish to receive. There are also different types of connectors that range from inexpensive silver connectors to high-end gold-plated connectors. The more high-end the connector, the better reception you will receive.

Instructions

    • 1

Push down on the end of the coaxial cable stripper, insert the cable approximately 1/4 of an inch, release the end of the stripper and turn the stripper in a forward motion, going completely around the wire to strip off of the coaxial cable.

    • 2

Pull off the newly cut cable shield.

    • 3

Attach the cable connector by pushing it onto the end of the cable.

    • 4

Insert the wire and white coating into the middle of the connector. Make sure the ground wires are in the outer part of the connector. Push it down far enough so that the wire extends out 1/4 of an inch.

    • 5

Crimp the end of the connector. Make sure the connector does not pull off the end of the cable.
