You can create any makeup effect in Photoshop if you know how to use layers and the brush tool. A basic makeup effect is creating eyeliner over your photo. Apply eyeliner in Photoshop by dotting an outline around the eyes and using the "Soft Light" option.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photo in .jpeg or .png format

    Set Up Your Eyeliner Tool

  1. Step 1

    Open your file.

  2. Step 2

Create a new layer in Photoshop. Locate the Layer menu and select "New." Select "Layer" to create the layer. It will prompt you to choose a blending option. Choose "Multiply." Select "OK" to finish creating the first layer.

  3. Step 3

Change the brush type, size and color. Select the brush tool (press "B" on your keyboard). Choose the "Soft Round 5 Pixels" option in the top bar next to the Brush option. Locate the color tab on the right toolbar, and slide the "R," "G" and "B" sliders to 0.

  4. Create the Eyeliner Effect

  5. Step 1

Zoom into your photo. You need to zoom in to accurately draw the eyeliner. Zoom in by 200 percent by typing in "200" in the lower left-hand corner text box, as indicated in the example.

  6. Step 2

Lightly dot around the outline of the lower eyelid. Press down on the left mouse button once on the lower eyelid. Make another dot next to it, continuing on until the entire eyelid is covered. Repeat the process for the other lower eyelid.

  7. Step 3

Lightly dot around the upper eyelid. Make sure to fill in all the area. Make dots in all the curves and shadows of the upper lid. Make it thicker than the lower eyelid. Repeat the process for the other eyelid.

  8. Step 4

Coat the upper eyeliner. Open the Photoshop brush box on the top toolbar, and move the size slider to 27 pixels. Heavily coat the upper eyelid, gently tapping with your left click button.

  9. Step 5

Adjust the Photoshop layer. On the Layers tab, located at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, click on "Layer 1" twice. This opens the layer adjustment box. At the Blend Mode selection, click and scroll down to "Soft Light." Click on it and press "OK." This overlaps into the first layer and gives the illusion of eyeliner.

  10. Step 6

Merge the layers and save. Go to Photoshop's Layers menu and click on "Merge Down." This allows you to save your new image. Go to the File menu, select "Save As," and click "Save" to save your Photoshop image.
