Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Contour pillow
  • Pillow cover
  1. Step 1

Shop around for a contour pillow that is designed for the sleep position you favor. There are many different kinds of contour pillows, so take your time with this, and make sure that the contour pillow you select will suit your needs.
Choose a contour pillow with at least a 4-pound density rating for optimal comfort.

Get recommendations from health care professionals and read reviews before purchasing.

  2. Step 2

Remove the packaging and wrapping from your pillow and let the contour pillow sit for approximately two days to allow for natural expansion to its proper shape before you use it for the first time. This will also allow any chemical smells associated with the pillow to dissipate before you use it.

  3. Step 3

Place the pillow cover onto the contour pillow.

  4. Step 4

Replace your old pillow with the contour pillow, and attempt to position yourself in your favored sleep position with the new contour pillow. The pillow should help your body to be properly aligned while you are in your sleeping position. Adjust yourself as necessary to get comfortable.

  5. Step 5

Allow several nights to adjust to the new contour pillow. If you are still having difficulty sleeping and adjusting to the contour pillow after a few nights, it may be necessary to try a different style of contour pillow.
