1
Build a wooden frame for broken corners. Cut boards to fit the sides and front of the step that needs repair. Nail them together to make a frame to hold the concrete. Cut pieces of bracing that will run at a diagonal from the step to the ground. For a secure brace, nail a perpendicular piece of wood where the brace anchors against the frame and again where it meets the ground.

2
Mix concrete according to manufacturer's directions and fill the corner of the frame. Use a trowel to smooth and level the patch. Leave the boards in place until the patch is dry.

Repair cracks in concrete slabs with foam backer rod, a type of patching rope sold in lumberyards. Cut the length needed and push it into the crack. It will expand and create a surface. Use a stiff-bristled brush to apply vinyl concrete polymer. It will flow around the backer rod and fill the crack.

Patch chipped and cracked concrete with a vinyl concrete polymer patch. Clean the area thoroughly and sweep away dust that would embed in the polymer. Use a stiff brush to paint this thin coating that instantly fills chips and small cracks.
