How to Care for a Gerber Daisy in a Garden

The vibrant colors of the Gerber daisy are an asset to any garden. Gerber daisies, also known as Gerbera daisies, are easy to care for and satisfying to grow. Whether you are growing Gerber daisies as a perennial or as an annual, the care you give your daisies will determine the number and length of the blooms you will see in your garden.

Things You'll Need:

• Watering can or hose
• Pruning shears
• Flower fertilizer
• Flower pots

1. Water your daisies in the early morning. Make sure you are watering the base of the plant and not the flowers to avoid damage. Do not over water--only water when the soil is dry to the touch.

2. Fertilize your daisies every other week using a fertilizer specifically formulated for flowers.

3. Trim off any dead or dying flowers using pruning shears. Cut off the flowers at the base of the stem.

4. Place the flowers in pots and bring indoors before the temperatures drop below 40 degrees F in the winter. Otherwise, you will need to purchase new plants in the spring.
