Many people have stacks of old 33 RPM records and 45 RPM records that hardly if ever get played anymore because of the scratching, hissing and popping of the records. When you learn to record your favorite albums and 45 singles onto CD, you can enjoy them with full sound.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Turntable with RCA jacks
  • Line-in cable
  • Audio editing software installed on your computer.
  1. Step 1

Use the line-in cable. Connect the line-in plug into the line in jack on either the front of your computer or the back of your computer. connect the red and white plugs into the RCA jacks on the back of your stereo.

  2. Step 2

Open the audio editing software on your computer. You should familiarize yourself with the audio capturing process of the software program you are using before you begin capturing sound from the external turntable. Examples of audio editing software include Adobe Audition, Goldwave and Polderbit-S

  3. Step 3

About one second before the audio begins on the first side of the recording, press the "Record" button in your audio capturing soft ware. Allow the record to play through all the songs before you stop recording. Repeat this step for the second side of the record.

  4. Step 4

Follow the process of applying different effects such as hiss/pop removal, scratch removal and balancing the sound

  5. Step 5

Most audio capture programs will automatically detect the splits between songs on each side of the record. Once the songs have been split, name and save each one by artist and song, or artist, album title and song. Save the files to your hard drive. You can then create the CD the way you normally burn audio compact discs.
