Instructions

    • 1

Lay the paper out on a flat work surface and mark a small dot in the exact center of the paper. Fold each of the four corners in to meet at the center dot. Crease the folds well with your fingers.

    • 2

Fold one side in to the center point and crease this fold. It does not matter which side. Fold the opposite side in to the center point and crease this fold. Unfold these folds and fold the other two sides in to the center point in the same fashion. Crease these folds well. Unfold these folds.

    • 3

Use the scissors to cut two notches in the edge of the square along one of the fold lines made in step 2. The notches should extend to the first fold line intersection. Make identical notches on the opposite edge. Fold the notches down to crease them.

    • 4

Fold the notches in toward the center of the square to construct the sides of the box. As you bring the notches together to make a side of the box, you are folding them in front of the other part of the paper. Bring this triangular shaped other part of the paper behind the notches and up and over the notches. Fold it over the notches to hold the notches in place. Repeat with the notches on the opposite side to construct the opposite side of the box.

    • 5

Crease all of the folds well to make them sharp and finish the box.

    • 6

Make a box lid by repeating steps 1 through 5 with a square of paper that is 1/2-inch larger than the first square of paper.
