How to Cook With Calphalon Stainless Steel Rubber Handle Pots

So, you broke down and spent a small fortune on some really great cookware and now you don't know what to do with it. Calphalon's anodized pots and pans have been the gold standard of cookware, but now you can get Calphalon in stainless steel, which is easier to care for and does a superb job of cooking. Although the handles Calphalon uses are designed to stay cool during cooking, a Calphalon Cool Grip handle won't change either the performance or how the pots should be handled. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your Calphalon stainless steel pots and pans, along with their lids, before cooking in them. Use hot soapy water and dry them thoroughly. After their first use, you can clean Calphalon in the dishwasher.

    • 2

Preheat fry pans until the edge is hot to the touch before adding any food for frying or stir-frying. Preheating allows the pan to cook most effectively. Preheating should be done with the heat set on medium high.

    • 3

Rub a teaspoon of butter into a "cook ready" pan until it melts but does not get so hot that it turns brown. When the butter has melted, the pan is ready. If you do not want to use butter to cook with, just wipe the pan clean with a paper towel and begin your cooking.

    • 4

Preheat your pot or pan when cooking with oil, and then allow the oil to heat to cooking temperature before adding food. Adding food before the oil has reached cooking temperature will allow the food to cook evenly and prevent it from sticking.

    • 5

Bake or broil in Calphalon stainless cookware by using your favorite recipe as you would with any other pots and pans. When baking or broiling, remember that the handles will get very hot so you will need potholders.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is fine to put the tempered glass lids and Cool Grip handles in the oven. They are safe to 450 degrees. If food sticks, it is an indication that there is unseen food residue on the cooking surface, so using a fine cleanser such as Bon Ami to clean should solve the problem.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners such as steel wool or harsh cleansers as they may scratch the surface of the cookware. Automatic dishwashing detergent should not be used for hand washing Calphalon pots and pans. High alkaline cleaners, bleach and cleaning chemicals used to clean floors should be avoided.
