Clow cards come from the Japanese "Cardcaptors" Sakura series. "Cardcaptors" is a publication and was an anime series for several years. The entire series is comprised of 12 volumes and it won the Seiun Award for best manga in 2001. Per the story line, each card has its own personality and characteristics, and can assume alternate forms when activated. Now, the Clow cards are being read as tarot cards by many enthusiasts. Follow these steps to learn how to use these cards to discover your destiny.

1 Shuffle the cards

Shuffle the cards. Shuffle and cut the cards as often as you would like to mix them up.

2 Infuse the cards with the questioner's energy

Infuse the cards with the questioner's energy. Have the questioner concentrate on the question and lightly touch the cards to infuse her with the arcane from within. At this point if you, the diviner, feel the cards speak to you then do as they say. If they require an incantation, then speak it.

3 Pull the cards

Pull the cards from the deck randomly and place them face down in the pattern shown in the illustration. The numbers represent the order of the card placement. Each of these positions represents certain facets of the read: The number one is the top of the pattern and represents the questioner. Number two is the questioner's past. Number three is the questioner's present. Four goes hand-in-hand with position three and represents recent experiences. Five represents the goals and wants of the questioner. Six represents the immediate future of the questioner. The number seven pertains to the environmental influences and how they affect each other. Eight ties in with position four and represents the questioner's inner fears or desires. Nine signifies the result of positions one through eight.

4 Turn the cards over one

Turn the cards over one at a time. This must be done in a specific order, and the order is different from the order of placement in Step 4. Follow the illustration for the correct sequence of turning the cards over.

5 Read the cards

Read the cards. Since there are 52 cards in the deck, they cannot all be explained here. The box in which you purchased the Clow cards will have the meanings of each and every card.

6 Are examples

Here are examples of two of the major arcane cards: The Light is the most powerful of all the cards. It signifies loyal, a bit aloof and very kind. The Light couples with her opposite, The Dark. Upright indicates power and passion, while reversed (upside down) indicates inner powers and inner desire. The Dark is not an evil card by any means, but indeed has a love of the darkness. The Dark is complicated and intelligent, and couples with her opposite, The Light. Upright indicates deep desires and secrets. Reversed indicates many talents and hope.
