Passwords are everywhere. There is not an email, login, or forum website that you can access without a password it seems. On top of that, Windows asks for your password every time you turn on your computer. How does anyone keep track of them all. Fortunately for those with poor memories or just one too many passwords to keep track of, there is a way to get back into Windows XP if you can no longer login.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Restart the computer and press "F8" as the computer boots.

  2. Step 2

Select "Start Windows in Safe Mode" from the boot options menu when it appears.

  3. Step 3

Click "Start" and "Run," and type in "control userpasswords2." Press "Enter" to access login controls.

  4. Step 4

Uncheck all the boxes labeled "require users to enter a name and password." Click on the advanced tab and uncheck "Require users to press Ctrl Alt Delete" to log in. Click "OK."

  5. Step 5

Click "OK" without entering a password once the administrator account box opens.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep all your passwords written in a notebook tucked in a place only you know about. The majority of administrator accounts have no passwords; if you set one up, you will need to enter it.
