Commercial weed killers, though very affective, can be very expensive to purchase. These weed killers also utilize harmful chemicals that many people would like to avoid. You can easily make a very inexpensive, yet effective weed killer at home that uses ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Learn how to kill weeds using this homemade weed killer.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Liquid Dish Detergent
  • This recipe will make one gallon of homemade weed killer.
  1. Step 1
    Use one gallon of  vinegar.

    Pour one gallon of vinegar into an all-purpose, outdoor sprayer, or any container of your choice. You can use white, distilled vinegar, or apple-cider vinegar if you choose.

  2. Step 2
    Add salt to the vinegar.

    Add one cup of salt. Morton Salt works nicely, but any brand of salt will also work great.

  3. Step 3
    Add 2 tablespoons of liquid dish detergent.

    Next, add two tablespoons of liquid dish detergent. Ivory liquid dish detergent, or any other detergent will work. However, try to stay away from the scented detergents.

Tips & Warnings
  • This will kill poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac too.
  • This homemade weed killer will kill practically all vegetation, so be careful where you use it. Do not spray too closely to any vegetation you don't want to kill, especially on grass.
  • Take caution to not get mixture into your eyes, nose, or mouth.
