Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • .015 Beading Wire
  • Wire Cutters
  • Tape Measure
  • Crimping Pliers
  • Bi-cone Birthstone Crystals (6 mm) (4 for each child)
  • Alphabet Beads (6 mm) (letters to spell out names)
  • Round Silver Beads (3, 4 and 6 mm)
  • Flat Spacers (4, 6 mm)
  • 6 Silver Crimp Beads
  • Toggle Clasp
  1. Step 1
    Possible design.

    Possible design.

Plan your bead design. You will need to incorporate each child's name into the bracelet. If there are three children, each child's name will go on a separate strand of the bracelet. If there are more than three children there will need to be more than one name on each strand. If there are less than three children, there will be at least one strand without a name on it.
See illustration for a suggestion for designing the names. Place the name in the center, surrounded by spacers, 1 birthstone crystal on each side, 1 spacer on each side, 1 birthstone crystal on each side, 1 spacer on each side, and then begin to place the round silver beads on each side with the largest ones first and making them smaller as you go out. Intersperse more spacer beads with the round beads.
Adjust your design accordingly to include each child's name. Experiment until you have a design you like.

  2. Step 2

Cut three 8-inch lengths of beading wire.

  3. Step 3

Place a crimp bead onto the end of one beading wire. Add one half of the toggle clasp and thread the end of the beading wire back through the crimp bead. Adjust the wire so that only a few millimeters of wire tail extend beyond the crimp bead and pull the wire tight. Use the pliers on the crimp bead and trim the excess wire tail at the crimped crimp bead.

  4. Step 4

Repeat Step 2 with the other two lengths of beading wire so that you have three crimped wires extending from the loop of the toggle clasp.

  5. Step 5

String the beads according to the design you planned in Step 1. Double check to make sure the alphabet beads spelling the names are strung properly to spell the name(s) correctly.

  6. Step 6

Stop stringing beads when approximately 1 inch of beading wire remains of all three lengths of wire.
Place a crimp bead onto the end of one beading wire. Add the other half of the toggle clasp and thread the end of the beading wire back through the crimp bead. Pull the wire tight so that all the beads along the wire are nestled right next to each other and no wire is visible between the beads. Use the pliers on the crimp bead and trim the excess wire tail at the crimped crimp bead.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Step 6 with the other two lengths of beading wire to finish the mother bracelet.
