How to Stop Programs From Loading on Start-Up in Windows Vista
In Windows Vista, it's not unusual for many programs to automatically load on start-up after downloading them. Although anti-virus and anti-spyware programs often need to load automatically, many other programs do not. Unnecessary programs that load on start-up can cause your computer performance to decline substantially. Stopping these programs from loading on start-up can save you a lot of hassle.

Click on the Windows icon on your task bar (or the "Start" button in classic view).

Choose "All Programs."

Click on the "Accessories" folder.

Click "Run."

Type "msconfig" into the run box and then click "OK." If prompted, click "Continue."

Click on the "Startup" tab in the System Configuration window.

Uncheck the box beside the programs you wish to stop from loading on start-up.
