Make Flower Centerpieces with Real Flowers

When making a flower centerpiece using real flowers, there are no rules to the shapes, sizes, colors or types of flowers to add to the arrangement. Experiment with different flowers until you come up with the design you like the most. Play around with contrasting textures and colors. You can even arrange the flower centerpiece by scents. A flower centerpiece can be created by arranging real flowers in a vase, a basket or even just bundled up in a ribbon.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Place a 8-inch cube glass vase in the center of the table. Fill the vase with room-temperature water.

  2. Step 2

Gather together an assortment of complementary flowers, such as, peonies, lilacs and roses; all in pink. Use sharp scissors and cut the stems to 8 inches long.

  3. Step 3

Arrange the flowers in the vase. Place the larger flowers in the center of the vase, surrounded by the smaller flowers.

  4. Step 4

Line the perimeter of the vase with cascade pink orchid mist---a petunia hybrid. This soft and elegant flower is ideal for a table centerpiece.

  5. Step 5

Arrange white baby's breath, pink cherry blossoms and green eucalyptus leaves among the other flowers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Real flowers will keep longer in the cool shade. Change the flower water as soon as it starts to look cloudy. Put a pinch of sugar in the vase water as food for the flowers.
  • Remove any leaves under the water from your flower centerpiece. This will prevent rot.
