    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Refrigerator
    • Bowl
    • Faucet
    • Hose
      • 1

Leave the frozen bottle of water in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, it will be thawed and ready to be enjoyed.

      • 2

Allow the bottle to sit at room temperature (in a sink or bowl) several hours until thawed.

      • 3

Place the bottle in direct sunlight on a windowsill for up to one hour.

      • 4

Set the bottle in a bowl filled with cold water until thawed.

      • 5

Stream cold water from a faucet or hose over the bottle until thawed. Warm or hot water can be used to speed up thawing but they lessen the chances of the water remaining ice-cold.

    Tips & Warnings

    • A microwave can be used to speed thawing, but there are risks involving plastic bottles, since scientific studies indicate microwaves alter the composition of plastic and cause some of the material's chemicals to leak into the water. If used for thawing, set the frozen bottle of water in the microwave for one minute or less with the "defrost" option selected. Remove and let sit at room temperature until fully thawed.
