Time to straighten a picture frame

Crooked pictures can ruin the look of a room, taking it from chic to sloppy. Sometimes though it seems like you can never get a picture frame even. Here's how I straighten picture frames to make sure they are always level.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

Measure from the floor strait up to each corner of the picture frame. Alternatively you can also measure from the ceiling.

  2. Step 2

Straighten the picture frame until both corners are the same distance from the floor or ceiling. If when you start on corner is 1/4 an inch higher than the other, lower it by 1/8 inch. This will simultaneously raise the lower corner by 1/8 an inch, and straightening the picture frame.

  3. Step 3

Once you have the picture frame even, take a pencil, and very lightly make a small mark at each lower corner of the picture frame as close to the edge of the frame as possible, but still hidden behind it.

  4. Step 4

If you see either mark in the future you know you need to straighten your picture frame. Use the marks for guidance so you don't needto repeat the procedure.
