The Japanese method of folding clothes refers to folding shirts. This style saves time, leaves clothing less wrinkled and keeps drawers and closets orderly. Folding clothes Japanese style is a big help for someone who works in a clothing store or in a laundry. The following technique works for short- and long-sleeved shirts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lay a shirt facing up, with the neck to your left. The shirt is placed length-wise. Hold the right side of the shirt with two fingers of your right hand. Do the same with your left fingers on the left side of the shirt.

  2. Step 2

Fold the shirt by crossing your left hand over your right hand. Using your left fingers, keep the hem and the shoulder together. Raise the shirt, uncrossing your hands. The shirt will stay pulled tight.

  3. Step 3

Lay the shirt back on the flat surface. Place the sleeves first, folding the shirt along its length. Once you successfully fold your first shirt Japanese style, you will understand the method. It is a little tricky, but save time once you get the hang of it. (See Resources for video.)
