How to Become a Report Writer
Report writers are needed in business, health, real estate, education, law and information technology fields. If you have (or are going to get) experience in these fields, particularly business, law or information technology, then you could be eligible to be a report writer. As a report writer you will analyze information and turn it into a report or handout for communities, employees, sales representatives, users, courts and lawyers.

1
Choose the field of report writing where you want to specialize. If you already have an education or specific experience in one area, try that field first.
-
2
Improve your knowledge and education in the field you choose. You will need a college degree if you choose the business, law or information technology fields. You can get started online or at a local college or university. See the resource box below to get help finding an educational institute.

3
Invest in report writing software, which is required by the businesses you will be working for. Options include Crystal Reports and Microsoft MySQL. Report writing software extracts pertinent data from information sources to help you write reports. Most companies want a report writer who has experience (sometimes at least two years worth) with report writing software.

4
Narrow your options before looking for a job by choosing whether to work from home or at a company. Be aware, though, that if you work from home on a freelance basis, for example, you will have to pay your own taxes and get your own benefits.
-
5
Search for a job as a report writer through iFreelance and JuJu. Search with the keywords "report writing job", "report writing career", "freelance report writing", and "report writer opening".
