Determine if you want to color over the red hair dye with a lighter or darker hair dye. It's a shorter process if you decide to go darker.

Prepare your hair by first washing it to remove any chlorine, hairsprays or minerals. A good shampoo will do the trick.

Use a hair color remover kit if you decide to change your color to a lighter or brighter shade. These kits remove permanent hair dye.
