How to Clean Paper Currency
The best method of cleaning your paper currency depends on your reason for cleaning it. If you are a money collector and therefore have paper currency that has value beyond its surface denomination, you should probably avoid cleaning the bill altogether. It is generally accepted among currency collectors that the processing of a note will reduce the note's quality by at least one full grade. If you must clean such a note, it is recommended that you consult an agency that specializes in collectable notes and have the bill professionally cleaned. If, on the other hand, you want to clean a note that is still in circulation, there is a very easy way to do so. Using this method will almost certainly compromise a certain amount of the note's luster, but it is the quickest and most practical way to sanitize a filthy bill.

Tips & Warnings
You can also simply take the soiled note to the bank and exchange it for a new one. Banks are legally obligated to perform this exchange as long as the currency is reasonably identifiable.
Be careful when handling the wet banknote, as it will be more prone to tear when it is still damp.
