How to Make Food for a Superhero Birthday Party

This year, you have decided to host a superhero-themed birthday party for your child. Perhaps your son idolizes Iron Man or your daughter just loves Wonder Woman. Whatever the case, you want to plan a memorable birthday party with a superhero theme. One of the most important aspects of the party is the food, which you want to tie into the superhero theme. Well, here are five menu ideas for your superhero-themed birthday party.

Things You'll Need

• Giant-sized hoagie rolls
• Sub sandwich fixings (such as deli meats, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and condiments)
• Place cards and a pen/marker
• Your favorite pizza dough recipe (including all ingredients and cooking utensils)
• Your favorite pizza toppings
• Bat-shaped cookie cutters
• One package of green jello (plus ingredients and cooking utensils for making jello)
• Green rock candy
• Cookie sheet
• Your favorite rolled sugar cookie recipe (plus all ingredients and baking utensils)
• Superhero-themed cookie cutters (such as bats, spiders, lightening bolts, stars and letters)
• Frosting in chosen superhero colors
• Frosting spatula or knife
• Your favorite cake recipe (plus all ingredients and baking utensils)
• Icing in chosen superhero colors
• Pastry coupler, pastry bag and decorating tips

Instructions

1. Serve some superhero subs packed full with plenty of deli meats, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and condiments in between giant-sized hoagie rolls. Make sure to super-size your subs and set a place card reading, "Super-Sized Superhero Subs" in front of them.

2. Create Batman-inspired mini pizzas for party guests. Prepare and then roll out your favorite pizza dough recipe. Push bat-shaped cookie cutters into the pizza dough and then place the bats on a cookie sheet. Then place tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and all of your child's favorite pizza toppings on top of the bat-shaped mini pizzas. When the pizzas are ready, tell party guests that they are Batman's favorite treat.

3. Prepare some green jello according to the jello package instructions. Then place a label in front of the jello that reads, "Green Kryptonite Jello" in honor of Superman. To extend this Kryptonite theme, place green rock candy at all guest place settings. Guests can take home their green Kryptonite candy after the party.

4. Make a batch of your favorite rolled sugar cookies and then roll out the cookie dough. Use an assortment of superhero-themed cookie cutters to press into the dough to form cookies. Cookie cutter examples include a capital letter "S" for Superman, bats, spiders, lightening bolts, diamonds and stars. Bake cookies according to your recipe instructions and then decorate them with frosting colors that match the various superhero colors (such as red and blue for Superman and red, white and blue for Wonder Woman)

5. Bake a superhero-themed cake. Prepare and then bake your favorite cake recipe. After the cake has cooled, ice it with your child's favorite superhero colors. Then use a pastry coupler, pastry bag and various decorating tips to create the superhero's emblem or symbol, such as Superman's "S" or Batman's bat.
