Limewire is a music sharing system that lets people download music and other media from each other's computers. Some forms of Limewire may violate copyright laws, so be sure that you only use Limewire to download music that is not copyright protected. One of the drawbacks of Limewire is that it sometimes takes some time to use and can run slowly. Limewire Extreme is an add-on downloadable program that accelerates all Limewire downloads. It is a separate program that you need to download in addition to the basic Limewire software itself.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet connection
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Download Limewire Extreme. The program is a free download that you can find online. The link is listed below. Download the program at your own risk. Although considered safe, some users have reported problems with usability due to malware or worms.

  2. Step 2

Activate the program. Usually the program will open a "startup wizard" window automatically on your screen that will let you set where you want to run the program and how you want to open it. If it does not, then you will need to double click on the Limewire Extreme icon on your screen or in one of your desktop folders to activate the program.

  3. Step 3

Open your Limewire program. You can do this by double clicking the on-screen icon or by opening it in a folder.

  4. Step 4

Type in a Limewire search. For example, if you want to download some acoustic guitar music, you might type in "acoustic guitar" in the Limewire search box. Limewire extreme will automatically take over. It will compress the downloading files to make more information available faster.
