- 2 colors of paint
- Twin beds
- 2 matching comforters or bedspreads
- 2 pieces of coordinating framed artwork
- 2 small dressers

If your girls are old enough to participate in decorating their room, allow them to choose the style and colors. Have them draw or roll dice to see who gets to choose the first color. Give the other girl several color options that coordinate with the first choice and allow her to pick.

Decide which wall the heads of the beds will go against. Paint this wall the darker of the two colors you've chosen. Paint the other three walls the lighter color.

Place the twin beds against the darker colored wall and cover them with comforters or bedspreads.

Hang a piece of framed artwork directly over each bed. Let the girls pick which artwork they prefer.

Hang coordinating curtains on the window or windows.

Each girl should have a separate dresser. You can buy inexpensive mini-dressers that consist of two or three drawers. This will give each girl her own space, as well as some privacy for personal items. Place each dresser on opposite sides of the room, near the twin beds.

Hang mirrors above each dresser. This will give each girl her own mirror so they won't be fighting over one mirror in the morning as they get ready.

Remove or cover bedroom furniture before painting. If the room is large enough, you can put up a temporary partition in the middle of the room.
Each girl should be allowed to pick something she loves, but don't try to incorporate too many colors and patterns or the room will look too busy.
