How to Make Mirror Rosaries

Rosaries are an important part of the Catholic faith, and as such are often kept in places where they will be seen and used every day. You can make a dimple mirror rosary to hang from the rear view mirror in your car that can provide moments of comfort during long commutes. Mirror rosaries are usually abbreviated versions of larger ones and feature only five decades, or prayer beads. This is so they do not obstruct your view while driving. If you use elastic cording, it is easy to remove it from your mirror and use it as a pocket rosary as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Knot one end of the beading cord loosely, leaving a 4-inch-long tail. Place two small beads on the cord and allow them to rest on the knot.

    • 2

Thread one large bead onto the cord, followed by two more small beads. Continue threading one large and two small beads until you have five large beads and six sets of small beads on the cord.

    • 3

Untie the knot you made and hold both ends of the cord together. Pass them both through the hole in the last large bead.

    • 4

Thread five small beads onto the joined cords. Push them up until they are resting against the large bead.

    • 5

Tie the crucifix to the cord where it emerges from the small beads. Trim the excess cord off. Place it over your rear view mirror.

Tips & Warnings

  • Attach a St. Christopher medallion to your rosary, as he is the patron saint of travelers and especially suited to a mirror rosary.

  • Avoid larger crucifixes and beads that may obstruct your view.
