Drapery Hooks

One popular way to hang draperies is by drapery hooks. These are useful because they attach the pleated draperies directly into the drapery rod hardware and help ensure the draperies are evenly spaced along the drapery rod. The draperies can then be opened and closed by pulling the drapery cords on the side of the draperies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Drapery rod
  • Ladder (optional)
  1. Step 1

Place the draperies on a flat work surface so that the side of the draperies that will face the window is facing up. Locate the top edge of the draperies.

  2. Step 2

Slide the sharp pin portion of the drapery hooks into the drapery fabric, with the sharp pin pointing upward toward the top edge of the draperies.

  3. Step 3

Position the first drapery hook approximately 1 inch from one of the side edges of the draperies. Each drapery hook should be positioned approximately 3 inches apart along the top edge of the draperies.

  4. Step 4

Slide the drapery hooks onto the drapery rod to hang the draperies. Use a ladder to reach the drapery rod, if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Handle the drapery hooks very carefully. They're quite sharp.
