Taking care of your golf clubs will keep them in great shape for years. Golfers who maintain their clubs can have them last 10 years or more. One of the things your can do is change the golf grips yourself to help your clubs retain that "new" feel. New alignment grips not only will have a fresh feel, they will help your with hand placement so you can grip the club consistently each time.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut off your old grip by making four vertical cuts down the shaft of the club. This will allow you to reach under the grip and pull it off the shaft of the club.

  2. Step 2

Take your screwdriver and pop off the cap at the top of the grip and slide the grip stop at the bottom of the grip down to where shaft meets the face of the club. Clean all dirt and glue residue from the shaft of the club with rubbing alcohol. Pour it on one of your rags and wipe clean. Then take another rag and dry the club.

  3. Step 3

Place double-sided grip tape over the top eight inches of the shaft. The grip tape should be unrolled neatly in serpentine fashion.

  4. Step 4

Pull your new grip over the top of the shaft and snap it into place. Replace the cap on the top of the shaft and raise the grip stop to its original spot.

  5. Step 5

Pull on the alignment sleeve over the top of the grip. The sleeve will help your put your hands in the same place every time your grip your club. Let the club sit for about an hour to allow the grip to cure and stay in place securely.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you regrip your first club, go through your bag and regrip any club that you use regularly.
