Young women can apply makeup to look older and be taken more seriously. Women can gain respect for their ideas if they appear older and wiser. If a woman looks younger than her true age, she may not want to deal with being treated like a teenager. Young women who want to polish their professional image can apply makeup to look older and more professional. The eyes and lips should be the main focus when applying makeup to look older.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Brown shades of eye shadow
  • Dark brown eye liner
  • Black mascara
  • Neutral lip liner
  • Lipstick in a neutral shade

    Eyes

  1. Step 1

Apply a base coat of eye shadow in a light color. This will serve as the foundation for your other eye makeup.

  2. Step 2

Apply a medium shade of brown to your entire eyelid. Go all the way into the crease of your eye. Then, using a dark shade of brown, fill in the crease from the center of your eye to the outer corner. Form a triangle of dark brown by filling in the area from your crease to your eyelashes (on just the outer half of your lid).

  3. Step 3

Use eye liner to line your upper lashes. Do not line your lower lashes. Young women tend to wear eye liner like this, so it will only make you appear younger.

  4. Step 4

Apply black mascara to your upper and lower lashes. Coat your lashes well.

  5. Lips

  6. Step 1

Before applying lip liner, make sure your lips are moisturized. Lip liner will make all the cracks show on dry lips.

  7. Step 2

Outline your lips with lip liner. Follow the natural outline of your mouth. Use feathered strokes rather than a hard line. After your lips are lined, fill them in with the lip liner. This will help your lipstick stay in place.

  8. Step 3

Apply lipstick in a neutral shade. Women wear neutral shades. Young girls wear pinks and bright reds.

Tips & Warnings
  • Style your hair in a professional manner that complements your makeup.
  • Do not apply heavy eye liner. Do not use shiny lip gloss.
