How to Reset the Drum Page Counter on a Dell 1710/1710n Laser Printer

After changing the imaging drum on a Dell printer, the "Change imaging drum light" may remain flashing as if the printer does not recognize a new drum has been installed. Another imaging drum can be inserted to see if the first was bad, but more likely the drum page counter needs to be reset. These instructions are not provided in the user's manual and may be a little frustrating to perform exactly to the printer's liking. It may take several tries, persevere for the time involved and you'll be printing again shortly.
