How to Fix WinZip Files
Zip file formats are used in order to compress the size of a file so it can be easily accessed and transferrable. Compressing files also expedites the amount of time it will take to download and transmit the file's contents. This file format allows you to collapse and extract the files contents in order to break down its organizational entity. WinZip is a software module that can be used to access and operate these files. But if these files are broken, damaged, or corrupted, you will need to fix and repair these files to make them functional again.

Obtain the Recovery Toolbox Software for Zip if you do not already have it. Click on the additional resource link below to download the software to your hard drive. When the downloading process is complete, click "Open" to install the software's and configure its settings. The software's license agreement will appear. Agree to the terms of usage and follow all of the software prompts to install the software's components.

Launch the program by clicking on it's newly installed icon on your computer's desktop screen. When the program opens, click on the file selection dialog to locate and select the damaged file you desire to fix. Click "Open" to load the file into program's portal.

Run the "Zip File Analysis" to determine the status and problematic errors that are associated with the file. Once this analysis is complete, another screen will load in the program's portal with the file's results. The results will collapse and extract all of the compressed file's internal components and functions so that you can see which components are actually causing the problem. You will also see empty boxes next to all of the file components. The components that need to be repaired will be listed in bold.

Check the boxes next to the file components that need to be fixed and click "Next" in the zip file recovery portal to configure the destination folder for the newly repaired files. Click the "Open File" command when the screen loads to specify the output folder you would like to place the repaired file into. Click "Next" to begin the repair process. Once the process is complete, you will receive an indication when the repair process is complete.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the file is in .zip format before you attempt to repair the file. The file should automatically be labeled with a Winzip icon for identification purposes. Open the repaired file components once the repairing process is complete to make sure the files are now functioning correctly.
If the file is corrupted, there may be a strong possibility that you will not be able to repair it. Be aware that the zip file analysis may take approximately 30 seconds to five minutes, depending on the speed of your hard drive's processor and the size of the compressed file.
