Things You'll Need:
- Doctor
- Vitamin C
- Cool compress
- Ice pack
- Towel
- Washcloth
- Sleep
- Healthy diet
- Multi-vitamin
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
-
Step 1
Visit your doctor. In some instances, hereditary eye bags are exacerbated by other health issues, such as an inability to properly digest protein. Your doctor can run various tests to determine if you have other underlying health issues that are causing your eye bags.
-
Step 2
Rub topical Vitamin C on your eye bags. Vitamin C encourages skin cell regeneration, helping to reduce inflammation and brighten dark areas. With regular use, your hereditary eye bags will be less noticeable. You can find Vitamin C available topically in a variety of different lotions, serums and creams.
-
Step 3
Apply a cool compress to your under-eye bags. Wrap an ice pack in a thin towel and place it on the area. You can also soak a washcloth in cold water and apply it. The cool temperature will reduce swelling. Coolness also helps to increase circulation, making under-eye bags lighter and less apparent.
-
Step 4
Get enough sleep. If you don't get adequate sleep nightly, your hereditary eye bags will worsen. Aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night to keep circulation at optimal levels, helping to reduce the severity of eye bags.
-
Step 5
Consume a healthy diet. Vitamin deficiencies can cause and worsen eye bags. Take a daily multi-vitamin to supplement your vitamin intake. You should also try to get many of your vitamins and nutrients from fresh foods.
-
Step 6
Protect your hereditary eye bags from the sun. The sun's rays damage skin, making under-eye bags more apparent. Wear a high-SPF sunscreen that guards against both UVA and UVB rays. If you'll be outside for extended periods of time, protect the area with UV-protective sunglasses that cover the area.
