Working on those abs for the summer? The Roman Chair is a great "machine" to use to tone up. Most gyms have them, and they're very simple to use.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • roman chair
  1. Step 1

Sit on the roman chair so that your feet are hooked under the feet stands and so you are laying across the pad. Your waist should extend past the pad. Lay back so you are suspending yourself with your hooked in feet and abdominal muscles.

  2. Step 2

Place your arms across your chest or behind your ears (do not curl your neck). Lay back so you're at a flat 180, and then crunch forward to a 90 degree position using your abs. Do not go past 90 degrees or a natural sitting up position, so you don't injure your back.

  3. Step 3

Once you've mastered the basic way, you can add weights to your exercise by holding a weight plate across your chest while performing the sit up. You can also maintain the extension for a longer period of time, say 10 seconds.
