If outside remain upstream or upwind from the hazmat location and help others to move to a safe location. Do not touch or walk near hazmat material. Wait for hazmat removal or emergency personnel to assist others who are directly affected by hazmat.

If you are asked to stay indoors, close all doors and windows. If in a vehicle keep all windows and doors close and turn off the air conditioner and heater. Turn off ventilation systems or set to inside air circulation. Seal gaps around all openings using duct tape.

Tips & Warnings
  • When authorities give an all clear, leave your shelter
  • If in contact with hazmat follow instructions from authorities
  • Seek medical attention immediately if in contact hazmat
  • Report hazmat incidents to authorities and warn others
  • Do not touch hazmat
  • Seal hazmat content using bags and tape if this can be done safely (no fuse, liquid or vapors)
