More colorful veggies....
More colorful veggies....

I had a weight problem in my mid-twenties and after being sick of fighting the weight battle I consulted my physician and consulted a trainer at my local gym. I would like to share what I've learned. Since making these small changes I've been maintaining a much healthier weight and overall health!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Commitment
  • Consistancy
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Step 1. Replace soda with water. I know, I know, how boring right? At first I couldn't say no to my Pepsi cold turkey so I said yes to Diet Pepsi. If you like Coke switch to Diet. If you are looking to lose more weight, get a healthier glow and get rid of really dry skin, switch to water.

  2. Step 2

Step 2. Stop using Salt or cut back by half. This was hard for me. I love sea salt.

  3. Step 3

Step 3. Watch your portions. It is really all about portions. I am an average size woman but I can certainly eat as much as a person double the size of me. Knowing this about yourself is the first step. Cut back your portions slowly and it will be easier to make the change.

  4. Step 4

Step 4. Cut back on meat and add more colorful veggies to your diet. I love cheese and I love tomatoes so I've choosen to replace blt's or ham sandwhiches to mozzerella and tomato sandwhiches for work during the week. The summer time is the easiest time to add veggies to your dinner menu. I am always cutting up yellow, orange, red, and green peppers, zucchini, and summer squash dashed with extra virgin olive oil placed right on the grill. Cucumber sandwhiches are also a summer time favorite, as well as Veggie Cabobs!

  5. Step 5

Step 5. Exercise every day. Even if its just a walk around the block, get moving. Although, if you truly want to see results make yourself sweat every day. The task of getting a complicated exercise routine setup for yourself just sounds exhausting...and its not necessary. I've found that jumping rope for 20 minutes in the morning before I hop in the shower drastically improves my energy for the rest of the day. I've also found that if I squeeze in a fast run around my block (or a fast walk), I feel the same positive change in my energy level for that day. Doing this daily has shown me results and it is not complicated! One other suggestion...if you've got stairs and an elevator at work...USE THE STAIRS! That is a quick easy way to squeeze in exercise!

Tips & Warnings
  • Commitment to change is imperative. If you don't change and stick to it, you won't see change. End of story.
  • Drink more water! It benefits you in more ways than one!
  • Please consult your physician before drastically changing your diet, especially if you've got existing health issues.
  • Please consult your physician before adding rigorous exercise to your routine, especially if you've got existing physical issues.
