Instructions

Wire panels with varied size squares are ideal for smaller animals or animals with babies

The first thing you will need to do is determine how large you want your goat fence / enclosure / pen. Each panel is approximately 16 foot by 48 inches. So if you want a 16 foot square you will need 4 panels.
To keep your enclosure easy to move around I would suggest using 4 - 6 panels. These panels have a variety of opening sizes, called squares, you will need to determine the correct size for your animals, for goats larger squares are usually fine unless you have kids (baby goats) and want to keep them contained also.

Once you determine your desired size you will need to simply attach the panels together. It is best to have a little help with this part when starting out or you can simple lay them on the ground when connecting the first two panels together.
You will need to wire the panels together with strong plastic wire ties. You can also use metal wire if you prefer.
To attach the panels together simply loop your wire ties around both your panels and pull tight.

A little more detail: Lay or stand the first two panels together end to end. You will then need to loop one of your plastic wire ties around the end of the panels. Pull the wire tie tight to give the panel's added stability. Make sure you attach the panels in several locations alone the side to ensure it will not come apart.
Make sure you cut the extra wire close to the panels so there are no open edges to possible cut your animals.

Once you have the first two panels attached together you will need to set the panels up and attach the remaining panels in a line leaving the first and the last panels open.

Now you will need to bring the ends together and attach them with the lanyards. Attach one lanyard at the top, one at the bottom and at least one in the middle for added support. This will allow you to open the fence so the animals can enter and exit easily.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find several good quality goat panels at Atwoods. I use the panels with 4 inch openings for my goats and they work great (they usually cost under $20.00 each).

  • Be very careful when wiring the panels together as the wire ends can be very sharp!

  • Make sure you use lanyards that are small in size as to large of a gap will allow your animals to escape.

  • If using wire to attach the panels together be sure to cut any excess wire to ensure your animals will not be harmed.
