Fix a Wobbly Chair
Fix a Wobbly Chair

A wobbly chair can turn a nice dinner into an annoying balancing act. Fortunately it can be pretty easy to fix a wobbly chair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take the wobbly chair to a flat surface. Make a note of which leg is causing the wobble. Usually one leg will be slightly longer or shorter than the others.

  2. Step 2

Many chairs have plastic or felt glides on the bottom of each leg. If these are of the kind that screw in and out you can adjust the lengths. If they are of the kind that have a tack nail, and the wobble is slight you can remove the glides from the short leg(s) and add a piece or 2 of card board to the bottom of the leg and reinsert the glide.

  3. Step 3

If you need to fix a wobbly chair that has no glides measure the length of each leg. We will lengthen any legs necessary to make them all the same length. Do not cut any legs, or else you will soon be sitting on the floor.

  4. Step 4

To lengthen the leg(s) of the wobbly chair take a cork and slice of a piece of the thickness needed to even out the legs. A butcher knife works well for this.

  5. Step 5

Clean the bottom of the wobbly chair leg.

  6. Step 6

Glue the slice of cork on to the short leg with wood glue evening it out.
