Navy Pier Cinco de Mayo fest canceled over swine flu. This Cinco De Mayo you might be seeing a lot of these headlines.

This Spring with the swine flu hitting Mexico and some of the USA you might opt to stay home to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

There are plenty of recipes you can make right at home. I'll share a couple with you so you can celebrate Cinco De Mayo too.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Wet Burrito

    WET BURRITO:

    I love a Wet Burrito hopefully my husband will take me to Hacienda Restaurant for Cinco De Mayo, if not I'll have to make one here.
    I'm betting with the swine flu scare we will be staying home.

    SERVE NACHO CHIPS:

    I am like everyone else when it comes to going to your favorite Tex-Mex restaurant like Hacienda. I like Nacho Chips and Salsa. If you are staying home you may have to buy a bag of chips or you can actually make your own by following my recipe:

    I love Salsa but my husband usually makes that and I don't have an article on it but I've included a link to a recipe for you.

    Mix a strawberry margarita
    Mix a strawberry margarita

    BLEND A MARGARITA:

    6 fluid ounces tequila
    2 fluid ounces triple sec
    8 ounces frozen strawberries
    4 fluid ounces frozen lime concentrate
    6 cups ice
    Put in your blender frozen strawberries, tequila, triple sec, and lime. Blend until smooth. Put ice in a blender and crush.

    OR:
    Buy a Salvador margarita mix, add a little more tequila , fresh strawberries and ice

    Cover rim of glass with dehyrdrated lime & salt

  4. Step 4

    BUY A PINATA:

    Don't let the kids out of the fun. Buy a pinata and fill it will a lot of candy and let them swing away.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cinco De Mayo is the 5th Of May. It is celebrating the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862.
  • Don't drink to much and don't drink and drive!
