Put a Strap on an A Style Mandolin
Put a Strap on an A Style Mandolin

A Style mandolins don't seem to be made for straps, but there are a couple ways you can put any type of strap onto your mandolin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
A Planet Waves Quick Release strap adapter.

Your first, and in my experience, best option is to go to your local music store and buy a Planet Waves Quick Release strap adapter. They sell for about $4 and make life so much easier. Just loop one side of the adapter around the neck and under the strings and attach the other end to your strap. Then just clip the connectors together when you want to put the strap on.

  2. Step 2

Another way you can put a strap on an A - style mandolin is to simply use some nylon cord to tie your strap to the neck of the mandolin. It's especially good if you can use a knot that comes untied easily or leave the cord on the mandolin.

  3. Step 3
A loop of leather can also be used to attatch your strap

One more way you can attach your strap is by using a loop of leather or cord, or a long thin strap, and looping it around the body of the mandolin under the beginning of the neck. This can be harmful to your instrument if it's not secure - make sure it isn't rubbing against your mandolin's body.

Tips & Warnings
  • These are by no means the only ways to attach a strap - feel free to try new things.
  • Whichever method you choose, make sure it is secure and will not damage your instrument or your strap.
