Many different varieties of Birds will flock to this feeder and it's beautiful to look at. Ugly Plastic Feeders are not environmentally friendly and destined for the landfill. This eco-friendly Bird Feeder is easy enough to do with your kids.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A large, open pine cone
  • Peanut butter or Suet
  • Oats or corn meal
  • Bird seed/ sesame
  • A few feet of string
  1. Step 1

Mix 1/2 cup peanut butter ( or suet) with 2 1/2 cups uncooked oats. Make sure it is well blended.

  2. Step 2

Add dried fruit (chopped up), chopped nuts, seeds (especially sunflower) to the mix. This is not in the materials list but I find the more seed the better.

  3. Step 3

Tie a few feet of string to a pine cone in a loop. You want it to hang easily from a low branch so it is best to make the string into a loop.

  4. Step 4

Cover the pine cone with the mixture. Completely.

  5. Step 5

Next, Roll the pinecone in birdseed so that it is completely covered. The more seed the longer you will be able to enjoy your pine cone feeder.

  6. Step 6

Suspend it from a tree branch outside visible from your porch or window and watch the birds fly in!
