Having a miscarriage is always difficult for both partners. It's an emotional time, and you should take care of yourself during an event like this.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

A miscarriage is such a painful thing to endure, but it's important to know that it's very likely that it was not your fault and there was nothing you could have done to prevent it from happening. Miscarriages are often the body's way of ending a pregnancy that could not have been successful. As hard as it is, remind yourself and your partner that you are not to blame.

  2. Step 2

During this time of loss, it is very important to acknowledge your feelings. Don't bottle them up. Share them. Whether it be in a journal, with a friend, family member, or medical professional. There is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist or psychologist. You'll be surprising how good it can feel to share your pain with someone.

  3. Step 3

Just because you've had a miscarriage, it doesn't mean that you are incapable of having a successful pregnancy later. As long as your doctor has told you that you have no fertility problems, you have an outstanding chance of having a successful pregnancy in the future. It doesn't mean you wouldn't have made a great parent or are incapable of having any children.

  4. Step 4

When you are emotionally tested, it takes a toll on your body. Not only is your body trying to return to normal from the pregnancy, your body is coping with the emotions you are feeling. Take it easy. Let your body recuperate. Give your body and your heart time to heal.

  5. Step 5

As hard as it is, try to stay positive. Don't let it kill your hopes of becoming a parent. Just do your best, no one can expect any more from you.
