If you like Little Caesars breadsticks, you should like these. These are delicious. They are soft and fluffy inside and really delicious on the outside.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Candy thermometer
  • 1 1/4 tsp of active yeast (jar not packets)
  • 1 TBSP of sugar
  • 3 1/2 TBSP of vegetable oil (total)
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour (total)
  • Cooking spray
  • Airbake pan (important)
  • 1 1/2 TBSP of butter
  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder (total)
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Basting brush
  1. Step 1

First, take a microwave safe bowl and add 1/2 cup of water and put it in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds or more depending on the temperature. You will need to take it out of the microwave and get your candy thermometer and hold it in there to see if the temperature is at 115 degrees. Try to get it close to 110-115 degrees. When it has reached the right temperature, stir in 1 1/4 tsp of active yeast. Then add 1 TBSP of sugar and stir well. Next add 1 1/2 TBSP of vegetable oil, 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder, 1 TBSP of parmesan cheese and 1 1/4 cups of all purpose flour. Stir.

  2. Step 2

If the dough is really dry, add a TBSP of water at the time until you can just mix it with a fork. You can mix it with your hands if you wish to. It should be thick enough not to stick to the sides of the bowl while stirring it. If it is, add a little extra flour. Now you will need to cover the bowl and put it in the microwave for five seconds and then let it sit in the microwave for 30 minutes. While you are waiting, flour the counter with about 1/3 cup of flour and spread it out a little. When the dough has sat for 30 minutes in the microwave, remove it and scoop it out of the bowl and put it on the floured counter. Knead the dough 15 times and pat it out to about 1/2 inch thick, no more. You should make an even shape out of the dough, like a square or an oval.

  3. Step 3

Next, spray your airbake pan with a light coat of cooking spray and preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Get a knife and cut the dough straight down to the counter. Do not move the knife back and forth or you may ruin your counter. You will be cutting the dough into 1 inch strips. After you cut them, carefully move them to the airbake pan. These may not retain their shape after you move them, they may stretch out or something, but it is ok, straighten them and make sure they are not more than 1/2 inch thick by pressing them down a little. You should have about 6-8 breadsticks out of this batch. Take your basting brush and brush on vegetable oil generously over the top of the breadsticks. You will probably need about 2 TBSP of vegetable oil in a cup.

  4. Step 4

Put them in the oven. While they are in the oven, put 1 1/2 TBSP of butter in a coffee cup or bowl and melt it in the microwave(should be about 40 seconds). When its melted, add 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and 1 TBSP of parmesan cheese to the butter and stir it up.

  5. Step 5

Use a basting brush to put the butter mix on the breadsticks once when they start to brown(one thin coat) and again when they are finished cooking. They should be a light golden color when they are done. Take them out of the oven and use the rest of the butter mix to put on them. Enjoy.

  6. Step 6

Please read the Tips and Resources section of this article before you begin.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have an airbake pan, you may be able to use 2 9x13 inch pans and stack one on top of the other and cook the breadsticks on the top one. You will have to check the bottom of the breadsticks and make sure they are not getting too dark, if they are you will have to finish them on low broil.
