Instead of having plain popcorn, turn your snack into sweet and tasty caramel corn. This treat isn’t hard to make and it’s sure to please. Keep it at home for movie night, or bring it as a treat to a holiday gathering or party. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 6 quarts of popped corn
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks of butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
  • Large roasting pan
  • Non-stick pan spray

Instructions

      Spray a large roasting pan with a vegetable non-stick product. Put 6 quarts of popped corn in the pan.

      Combine the sugar, margarine or butter, corn syrup and salt in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium- to medium-high heat and boil for five minutes, stirring continually. Remove the mixture from stove. Add butter flavoring and soda. Pour this mixture over popped corn.

      Set oven temperature for 225 F. Cook for one hour and stir every 15 minutes to coat the popcorn.

      Pour caramel corn onto buttered waxed paper to cool. When completely cooled, store in a container with a tight lid.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use two bags of microwave, buttery popcorn for this recipe.
