This Pancake or Waffle Syrup Recipe is the perfect addition to your personal recipe file or index.

Three main requirements for beginning cooks are fast, easy and cheap. This flexible syrup recipe is deceptively simple to make, and your brunch guests will be wowed when you smile and ask,"Would you care for some homemade maple syrup?"

Use this to top off your favorite Pancakes, Waffles, Crepes, or French Toast. It works equally well on all of these.

Many cooks prefer vanilla, maple and pecan flavorings, but you are limited only by your taste and imagination. Other flavors will work equally well.

This syrup stores beautifully in well- sanitized recycled plastic squeeze bottles and glass jars. Keep it in the refrigerater and heat container in a bowl of very warm water until desired temperature before serving.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Dash of salt
  • Flavoring to taste (vanilla, pecan, maple, etc)
  1. Step 1

    1. Combine first five ingredients in medium size sauce pan on very low heat, stirring constantly until sugars dissolve.

  2. Step 2

    2. Let boil slowly for five minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Step 3

    3. Remove from heat. Add flavoring to taste. Serve over your favorite pancakes, waffles, or french toast.

Tips & Warnings
  • A heavy bottomed sauce pan works best to prevent scorching.
  • DO NOT POUR CONTENTS INTO STORAGE CONTAINERS WHILE HOT. THIS COULD CAUSE CONTAINERS TO MELT OR BURST.
