How do you go about looking for a retirement advisor? There are a few places you can go on the web which allow you to search by zip code or area to find retirement planning firms or certified planners in your area. This is a good place to start your search. I have included a couple of these in the resources below.

How do you go about looking for a retirement advisor? There is now a certification called the CRP (Certified Retirement Planner) that will let you know that this specific advisor has extensive training in this particular area. If your planner doesn't have this specific designation it doesn't mean they aren't qualified, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

You'll want your retirement investment planner to be someone who is easy to speak with and makes themselves very accessible. They need to put your interest first rather than simply selling a particular product. When you speak with prospective planners try to see if they are willing to listen to you rather than just give you a sales pitch. A good retirement planner will always listen well.
